Superintendent's Welcome

Superintendent's Welcome

September 2024

Dear Wharton School Community,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! As we embark on this new academic journey together, I want to express my excitement and optimism for the opportunities that lie ahead for our students, staff, and families.

This year, we are committed to continuing our tradition of excellence in education while embracing innovative practices that enhance student learning and well-being. Our dedicated teachers, staff, and administrators have been working tirelessly over the summer to prepare classrooms, update curriculum, and ensure our schools are safe and welcoming environments where every child can thrive.

As we focus on academic achievement, we also recognize the importance of social-emotional learning, inclusivity, and community engagement. We are implementing new programs and resources that will support the holistic development of our students, fostering not only their intellectual growth but also their emotional resilience and sense of belonging.

I encourage all parents and guardians to stay actively involved in your child’s education. Your partnership is invaluable, and we are here to support you every step of the way. Whether through attending school events, participating in parent-teacher conferences, or simply communicating regularly with your child’s teachers, your involvement makes a significant difference.

We are also excited to continue building strong relationships with our community partners. Together, we can create enriching opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom and prepare our students for success in an ever-changing world.

Two goals for the district this year are to:

  • Improve the academic performance of all students, ensuring they meet or exceed district and state educational standards, with a focus on new students.

  • Improve supports for home-to-school collaboration through enhancing digital literacy to support student achievement.

As we begin this school year, let us move forward with a shared commitment to making 2024-2025 a year of growth, discovery, and success for every student in our district. Together, we can make a positive impact that will last a lifetime.

Thank you for your continued trust and support. I look forward to a wonderful school year ahead!

Sincerely,

Christopher J. Herdman
