Superintendent's Welcome

     Dear Parents and Guardians,


    It is with great excitement and anticipation that I welcome you for the 2018-2019 school year.  It is the vision of the district to have our students “Learn to Thrive in a Dynamic World”.  Affording our students the opportunity to become self-directed learners through innovative and engaging learning activities, will push them toward this vision and to become life-long learners. 


    To more effectively drive our students to success and to encourage educational discussions with students and with student families, the district has created Standards Based Report Cards.  These new report cards will provide more detailed information and allow you to see what specific standards and skills your child is progressing to master.  This new reporting method, occurring in trimesters as opposed to quarterly marking periods, promotes a “Growth Mindset” and focuses students and student families on obtaining and extending specific skills rather than being assigned an arbitrary number grade.  You may find a tutorial on Standards Based Report Cards on the school website for more details and explanation.


    Annually, the schools use the summer to enhance both learning experiences and the facility.  This summer was no different.  Much work was done in the areas of curriculum and school culture and climate, and a team of teachers worked to further our “House Initiative”.  A security vestibule has been constructed at the entrance of the elementary school and “Old MacKinnon” received an electrical upgrade.


    I look forward to working with the student families and greater Wharton school community to provide a high level, impactful and enriching learning experience for your children.  The partnership between home and school is the key to our children’s success.
