I would like to welcome students and student families to the 2021-2022 school year, and what I am hopeful to be a further return to normal.
I am thankful that this year offers a full return of all students and staff to “in-person” instruction. The District will make all efforts to facilitate customary daily routines and learning opportunities, while ensuring constant communication with the Department of Health to ensure student safety and building cleanliness.
The District was able to offer learning supports to students this summer and will continue to offer supplemental programs and services throughout this upcoming school year. In addition to academic offerings, the past year has adversely impacted student’s social emotional affect. For this, we have contracted with clinical, mental health services and will have clinicians, on site, each day to work with students and student families and to provide professional development to our staff.
This summer, the schools have continued to enhance air purification mechanisms, have installed multiple bottle filling water stations, and shifted to a Notification System linked to the Parent Portal already in use. Another accommodation for ALL students, is the district will provide meals, free of cost, for the entirety of the 2021-2022 school year.
The goals for our district set forth in our Strategic Planning process include improvements in student achievement, focusing on social emotional learning and continuing to enhance our facilities.
While the past two school years have been anything but ideal, I look forward to working with student families to provide the best learning opportunities and the challenge of meeting the variety of individual student needs resulting from the pandemic.
