Absences of three or more consecutive days will require readmittance by the school nurse and in certain cases, a doctor's certificate.

Health Services
Physical examinations are conducted by the school physician for all students in second, fourth, and sixth grades, plus students engaging in interscholastic sports.
Hearing examinations are given annually for students Pre-K-4, 6 and 8, plus any others who have been referred for this purpose.
Vision examinations are given annually to all students.
Tuberculosis tests will be given to transfer students without record of previous examination.  Kindergarten children must have had a tuberculosis test prior to being registered for kindergarten.
Scoliosis screening, which has been mandated by the State Health Department, will be conducted by the Nurses and P.E. teachers on all students over 10 years of age.
A dental treatment program is available to children from families who qualify financially.  If you are interested, please contact the school nurse.

Home Instruction
Home instruction, more commonly known as bedside instruction, is available for any child who is to be absent for ten or more consecutive school days.  Parents who anticipate such an absence for their child should contact the school nurse immediately, without waiting for the ten days to accrue.

Physical Education Excuses
If a student is unable to participate in physical education class for a medical reason, a note should be sent tot he school nurse on the day of the scheduled class.  If the student's injury or illness prohibits him/her from taking gym for more than two consecutive classes, a doctor's note will be required.  During the time in which a student has been excused from physical education, he/she may not participate in intramural or interscholastic athletic competition, nor may he/she participate in physical activities during recess.
